I thought there would be a private minibus from Copan to go directly to where I was going in Guatemala, but because there are not enough tourists now, there is no such private car to pick up the work, so I can only take public transportation. So yesterday I spent the whole day on four buses. Fortunately, I didn’t need to wait for the bus. I sat for a total of nine hours and arrived at the hotel at 7 o’clock in the evening.

The first car took the car from Copan to the border of Guatemala, Honduras. When I got out of the car, a person holding a lot of banknotes asked if I wanted to exchange money. The exchange rate was not bad, so I exchanged the remaining Honduras lempiras for Guatemala. The quitzales are gone. The disadvantage of land entry and exit is that there are generally no ATMs to withdraw local currency, and you can only pay for the ticket after changing the money. Fortunately, they accepted credit cards at the bus station, so I bought a ticket and got on the bus quickly. This bus has air conditioning, so I fell asleep comfortably. When I opened my eyes again, I found that I had just arrived at El Rancho. The driver kept yelling at me the name of the station and told me to get off. I quickly put my luggage on my back and got off the bus. .

As soon as I got out of the car and hadn't stood still, the little brother asked me where I was going. I said I had to find an ATM to withdraw money first, otherwise I would take the bus without cash. He took me to a small bank first, but there was no cash machine here, so I had to use their bank card. He asked someone else, and then took me to another cash machine in a small supermarket. I took the money, went to the toilet, came out and found that he was still waiting for me at the gate of the supermarket, and said he would take me to the station. I became a little wary at this time, because when I was waiting for the bus after dinner in Costa Rica, someone came over and chatted with me first, then told me some travel information, and kept reminding me that the bus was coming soon. Finally started asking me for money. Now this person first takes me to an ATM to withdraw money, and then takes me to the station. I wonder if he will also ask me for money later. When I arrived at the station, I ate something casually at the small shop nearby while waiting for the bus. He stood there and called me after a while to say that the bus was coming. The people coming from behind asked me to get in the car first. The car was full, and there were only one or two empty seats in the back row. After I sat down, there was no place to put my big bag. So the ticket seller took my bag and said it could only be put on the roof of the car. Then I saw that after he got out of the car with my bag, he had just helped my little brother take the bag and walked to the back of the car. I looked at him and saw that he had indeed climbed onto the roof of the car. After he got down, he told me by the window that your bag was tied on the roof of the car, and then he left without asking me for money. I thought this little brother has been helping me since I got out of the car. He is so kind that he didn't help Tuchun with anything? ! But I didn’t see my big bag tied to the roof of the car with my own eyes. I still don’t feel at ease. I didn’t feel at ease before. This is the first time I brought a computer for online work on this long-distance trip. There is only such a valuable thing in the bag. I was stuck at the back in the car, and the front and middle seats were all full, so I couldn't get down. So I stopped the ticket seller and asked him to use his mobile phone to take a photo for me, so I was at ease. Along the way, we climbed mountains and ridges, the scenery was beautiful, and I no longer thought about Bao'er. When I was half an hour away from the destination Cobán, I asked the elder brother next to me how to get to the hotel I booked after getting off the bus. He glanced at the map and said that he could take the bus, but he suggested that I take a taxi, saying that it was dangerous for me to take the bus as a girl. Then he called his taxi friend, but no one answered. When we arrived in the city center, he got out of the car with me and helped me take the bag off the roof. I was relieved, and felt a little ashamed that the little brother who had helped me before was wary. This elder brother told me where to take a taxi or take a taxi, and kept telling me to pay attention to safety. He also told me that I am a foreign tourist and I am easily deceived. The ticket seller just overcharged me by 20 quetzales ($3). I didn't have to wait for a taxi, so I took the bus to the hotel in 10 minutes, as expected, without feeling any danger. Most locals always tell tourists that their place is more dangerous.

In fact, the destination last night was not Cobán, but because it was too late, I could only rest here and take another two hours to Semuc Champey today. In the morning, when the little brother in the family hotel was making breakfast, he told me that we could actually go to a church on a hill in the city center and see the whole city. Today happened to be Sunday, and every church that passed by was full of people. Many locals lit candles to honor their dead relatives and friends.

Yesterday, from the small town of Lanquin to Semuc Champey, 10 kilometers away, the mountain road was rugged and extremely bumpy. A car of tourists stood behind the truck, clutching the handrail, and bumped all the way. When we arrived, we first went to a very special cave. We had to wear swimsuits, water shoes, and a candle in each hand to enter the cave. In some places the water is so deep that you cannot reach the bottom with your feet and you have to swim across it. It is very interesting to pass through small waterfalls and slides in the cave. Afterwards, we went tubing for rafting. Two local kids selling cold beer chased us for rafting, and they kept saying that we could pay later. Entering Semuc Champey Park to climb the mountain to see the scenery, you can overlook the small blue-green pool in the river. After going down the mountain, I was sweating all over, and went directly into the river to swim, which was extremely refreshing. Some of the swimming pools from one pool to the next step can be jumped down, and some can be slided down. In this small group today, apart from me, the other five are Belgians, but three of them speak Dutch and the other two speak French. One of the girls' parents is Chinese born and raised in Belgium, but it looks like they are of mixed race. She has been speaking French since she was a child, and she also took some Chinese lessons, but she forgot if she didn't need it.

Back to Lanquin Town at night, the power suddenly cut off not long after, and the whole town was in darkness. It seems to be a common thing for small towns in this jungle to cut off water and electricity. Fortunately, there is hot water for bathing, it may be solar energy. The traditional costumes worn by local women here are colorful long skirts, a small hollow flower shirt on the outside, and tight suspenders on the inside.

Another day of driving from Lanquin to Flores. Fortunately, there is no need to take a lot of public transportation to change cars. It is a minibus and has air conditioning. On the way, I refueled twice at the gas station, went to the toilet, and ate. Half of the car is full of Israeli tourists. I sat in the car all day and listened to all the downloaded podcasts. When I was bored, I started chatting with an Israeli guy next to me. Like the Israelis I met on previous trips, they were in their early 20s and had just finished three years of military service before heading to South America to start backpacking. He spent the years of his service in the war, received a lot of war training, and had friends who died in the war. Most of them save the money the government paid them during their service and travel the world as soon as it's over. I saw two big surfboards on the top of the minibus besides everyone’s big backpacks. I asked him if he surfed. He said it belonged to two of his friends, and another friend brought a guitar. It's not easy to travel with so much gear. Later, I learned about their Jewish dietary taboos. I knew that they didn’t eat pork, and other cattle and sheep also had to eat halal food, but I didn’t know that they only ate fish for seafood and did not eat other shellfish. My little brother has limited English, and he has been gesturing to me that they only eat fish with scales and lungs. Later, I showed him how to type Chinese characters, and his expression was incredulous, and his mind was wide open.
