In the city of Tikal there are also remains of the ancient royal palace. In addition, there are many small pyramids, palaces, residences, stone monuments, and some courts used for ancient Mayan ball games.

Tikal National Park preserves a variety of jungle patterns ranging from swamp rainforest to montane forest. So it's also a wildlife sanctuary. Here we saw toucans, weasels, spider monkeys and other animals.
