Yesterday, the tour guide of the city walking tour recommended to go to a small square in the city center after 5:00 pm to experience the life of local people playing music and dancing. I took the long-distance bus from Guatapé back at just the right time. I stood among the crowd for half an hour, watching the locals sing and dance happily, and was deeply infected by their enthusiasm. The old men and aunts walked lightly, and all of them were masters.

When I went back, I took the small cable car up the mountain, and the night view of the entire city of Medellin was amazing. Back to the residential area of the sofa owner, planning to buy some fruit. Because it is far from the city center, there are no tourists at all, and the hawkers at the fruit stand probably have never seen foreigners, let alone Asians. After buying, the fruit boy was very curious about me and asked me a lot of questions. The aunt who sells breakfast in the community also knows me.

The next morning, I took a taxi to take the aerial cable car to a botanical park at an altitude of about 2,000 meters, and chatted with the taxi guy all the way. He told me that he was a big fan of Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Jet Li. He also asked me if I know kung fu, not Chinese people know how to do kung fu, okay? ? When I arrived at the cable car station, he gave me the money and I was just about to get off the car. He said he wanted to give me something. There is no need to buy a ticket to visit this park by yourself, but you can only walk on the main road, and you cannot enter the mountaineering route. To enter the mountaineering route, you have to buy a ticket and explain it to the guide. I climbed along the route the staff told me for half an hour, but Mao didn't see it either! When I was at a loss and wanted to continue climbing or go back to find an explanation and take the climbing route, I saw a car on the side of the road asking the locals for directions. I ran over and asked them if they could drive me to the entrance of the park. One of the young girls speaks good English. It was only later that I learned that one of the three people in the car was the driver, and the young girl was an interpreter who accompanied the Indian woman in the back seat on a tour. The husband of the Indian woman seemed to be a state official and came here for a meeting. When we were done, we bought tickets for the tour guide together. The guide only spoke Spanish, but I took this professional translator by the way. Later, I found out that this is not a mountaineering route. It is similar to a botanical garden explaining various flowers and plants. There are more than 4,000 kinds of orchids in the world, and Colombia has 1,500 kinds. Every few steps, the guide said that this is another kind of orchid, some of which are so small that you have to use a magnifying glass to see them clearly. Along the way, I learned a lot about flowers and herbs.

After visiting the park, I felt like I had gone to all the places I wanted to go in Medellin. I really didn’t know what to do. I decided to watch the rare national parade. Before I went, some local friends suggested that I should pay attention to safety. There are many reasons for the nationwide demonstrations in Colombia, but the main reason is opposition to the government's economic reform policies. In order to prevent the marchers from being too crazy, the government enforced some security policies: 1. In Medellin, no alcohol was allowed from midnight yesterday to 8:00 pm today. 2. 8,000 police officers are distributed in big cities across the country to strengthen the police force. No wonder you saw armed police everywhere on Tuesday. 3. On Tuesday, the border was also closed to prevent people from neighboring countries from entering and joining the parade, and the inbound and outbound flights will also be affected to some extent. There was a parade in Medellin starting at 6 o'clock this morning and it will continue until the evening.

I checked the route map of the parade, and estimated the arrival time of the parade going north, so I got off the subway ahead of time and headed south in the opposite direction. Along the way, I passed a homeless area, and my brain hurt from the violent walking on a hot day, and then I finally met the parade. There were so many people in the parade that the whole street was packed with people chanting slogans, holding slogans, and singing in unison. It was a peaceful and orderly parade. Fortunately, I occupied a favorable terrain on the isolation strip in the middle of the road, and witnessed the entire parade passing by, and I was not crushed to death.

After the main force passed, I walked towards the city center, looking for a coffee shop to rest. In the end, I searched for four or five, but they didn’t open. Because of the parade, most of the stores were closed, not even a store like Starbucks. After walking for an hour, I found an open restaurant, where I ordered drinks.

In the evening, I met a local friend I met before. I was walking on the street. Just as I took off my rain jacket, it suddenly rained heavily. This is the first time I have experienced heavy rain since I came to Colombia. When we went into a restaurant to hide from the rain, we saw the situation of demonstrations all over the country on TV: the demonstrations in Bogota and nearby cities were very serious, with some arsonists, vandalism, vandalism and looting, just the one I went to last weekend At the Catholic Church Square, fortunately, I am not in Bogotá. Later, the news said that there was a small riot near the Metro Station of the University of Medellin, but it was not very serious compared with Bogota. I lived in the sofa owner's house in Medellin for four days. Except for his wife who is Colombian, he and his family and friends who live in this house are all Venezuelans. Their son is super cute. The political situation in Venezuela is so chaotic that many people have fled to Colombia. Chatted with his nephew and learned that because he is an illegal immigrant, he can't continue to go to school, practice basketball two days a week, and have nothing to do the rest of the time, but look at him helping the family with housework and so on. The owner of the sofa is a courier boy. He was really busy this week, and he kept apologizing to me for not being able to take time to go shopping with me. He said that since it was almost Christmas and especially the next month would be super busy, I was the last couchsurf he had this year. They had just taken in a stray dog the day before I arrived.

Spoken to him and his family a lot last night. His family members are very kind and enthusiastic. They help me answer any questions I have these days. The guide on the previous city walking tour mentioned that the minimum monthly income in Colombia is $250, and that nearly 50% people make less than that. I don’t quite understand the fact that only cold water baths can be used in the sofa owner’s house. I thought it was because the seasons are like spring here, so there is no need to use hot water. Later, I talked with local friends who live in the city center and found out that most of them are economical. reason. After eating breakfast, I went into the kitchen to watch the proprietress make breakfast. The local morning market stalls remind me of my childhood Beijing.     Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!
