San Cristóbal Week 9 Daily

This is the last week in San Cristóbal. I cleaned out the ingredients in the refrigerator. In order to use up the leftover dark soy sauce and local liquor, I made sweet and sour pork ribs and zucchini scrambled eggs for the owner of the restaurant at the door, although they were also delicious. , but they prefer to eat the braised pork last time. They bought takeaway fried chicken for lunch the next day. In order to use up the Middle Eastern tahini tahini and boiled chickpeas, they made their favorite hummus Middle Eastern hummus sauce. This time they went to the pizza shop opposite to order a small portion of pizza as pita. I I made a Mediterranean salad again and ate it in a sandwich. This time it was more authentic than the last time. The Spanish teacher has never eaten hummus, so he invited her to eat too. In order to continue to carry forward Chinese food, I took my Spanish teacher and her family to the Chinese noodle restaurant they often go to. Unexpectedly, her mother also gave me two small bracelets as a farewell gift. They have never had authentic Chinese food and never used chopsticks. She and her mother like to eat all kinds of noodles, but her brother is more selective and doesn't like to eat anything. When asked what he likes to eat, he says that he usually eats pizza burgers and traditional Mexican food.

Walking on the street one day, I heard someone speaking Chinese next to me. When I looked back, it was a couple. When I asked if they were tourists from Tainan, Taiwan, they planned to spend a month in Mexico. They said that I was about the same age as their daughter. After confirming, the uncle said very cutely: "Call godfather! Next time I come to Tainan to play, I will bring you delicious food." They said that they were a little uncomfortable with Mexican food. I quickly recommend Chinese noodle restaurants to them. Later learned that they went and loved the beef noodles there.

Recently, a lot of people around me have a cold, and I was also told that the proprietress of the restaurant at the door said that they seldom took medicine and only drank tea when they were sick. So he also made lemon ginger tea for me. The next day, he brought a beautiful pink flower, bugambilia, and made it for me to drink. They said that this flower is very effective in curing colds. I drank the tea they made for me for two days and on the third day I felt much better and it really worked.

On Friday, the atmosphere of celebrating the Day of the Dead started everywhere. There were many students on the street who were dressing up for the altar of the Day of the Dead early in the morning, and they were all dressed up when they went to see it in the afternoon. An orange Day of the Dead flower, cempasúchil, can be seen everywhere, only this season. On the altar, corn kernels, beans, rice and other ingredients are used to form various shapes, and many fruits and tamales are used to pay homage. In the evening there are many parades of high school students dressed up.

This was my last day here. I walked for hours and met several acquaintances I hadn't seen in a long time. Before I left, a local friend came over and gave me a small gift. After living in the same place for two months, I was particularly disappointed. I am reluctant to give up this beautiful small town, the food from all over the world that I can’t finish, and the kind and warm local friends I know. Leaving for the next city for the time being, but I think I'll be back later.
