Back to the capital Quito, a day of relaxation, wandering in the city center, a lot of uphill and downhill.

The photos above are all of the historic old town of Quito. I walked around the nearby area this morning and saw the modern side of the city. There are many morning joggers on the street, and there are also many outdoor fitness people in the park. The steeper the uphill and downhill, the more cyclists can be seen. It is said that because an Ecuadorian won the Tour de France a few years ago, it has inspired locals to ride Passion for car workouts. Wait until the door opens at 9:30, and take the TelefériQo cable car up the mountain to see the panoramic view of the city. Originally, I only planned to take the cable car up to see the scenery and then come down, but after going up, I found that the weather is good today, so let's continue climbing. Slowly climbed from 4000 meters to around 4300 meters and decided to return, and did not plan to climb to the top. When going down the mountain, I saw two cute little eagles on the side of the road, not afraid of people at all.

Yesterday afternoon, I took a long-distance bus to Otavalo, a small town more than two hours away from Quito. I specifically contacted the local sofa owner before, and planned to come here on June 21 and 22, because the annual Inti (sun) Raymi (festival) will be celebrated here in these few days, and the local aborigines will shine on the summer solstice The longest day thanks the sun for all that it brings to them. The festival originated in Cusco, Peru, but is also celebrated in many other parts of Peru and by indigenous peoples in Ecuador. It is said that the celebration of this festival will be very grand, with singing, dancing and parades. But I went to the street last night and there was no movement. I was told that the city government canceled the celebration due to the epidemic, and the police suppressed the people who were celebrating small celebrations two days ago. The couch owner said there might be a celebration in a nearby town, but he wasn't sure. So I went to the street and asked several passers-by and shopkeepers. The proprietress of the bakery said that it is best not to have any celebrations, as she doesn't like noise. Passerby A said that there are no celebrations this year, Passerby B said that there will be celebrations tomorrow night, and the owner of the sofa said that the celebration will be on June 24th. Why not sure, one person has one statement? It's too late, the street is quite quiet, let's go out and have a look tomorrow during the day.

Distinctive street graffiti can be seen everywhere in the city of Otavalo. The pictures on the right of the picture below are the most famous Poncho and handicraft open-air market here. It is said that the scene is the biggest on Saturdays, and there are fewer stalls in normal times. Basically, they sell scarves and shawls made of alpaca wool. The pictures on the left below are the San Pablo Lake in the town next to here. I didn't plan to go to Peguche Falls, but before I left, the sofa owner said that there might be local villagers celebrating festivals there. I saw that it wasn't far away anyway, so let's take a look. When we arrived, there were still no celebrations, but there was an unexpected surprise when we were hiking near the waterfall, and we encountered grass mud horses at close range. It looked like it was tied to a rope to make money by taking pictures with tourists, but now it was supposed to be resting for a while, so I bumped into it. Looking at the camera and taking pictures while grazing, so cute.

After climbing the snow mountain and returning to Quito two days ago, because I was too tired, I found a restaurant near the hotel at night. It is located in a particularly touristy area. The environment is good, and there are locals playing local music. The seco de chivo mutton stew had a weird taste when I ate it. I didn't expect that my stomach would feel uncomfortable immediately after eating and resting. It is estimated that the immune system is low after climbing the snow-capped mountains, coupled with food poisoning, it is much easier to spit it out. But the next morning I still felt a little unwell, so I ate whole wheat bread for the past two days. I felt much better on the second day when I arrived in Otavalo. I tried street popsicle casero, tostada and mote con chicharron.
