Detroit

Passing through Detroit after crossing the border in Canada, although it is cloudy here, but at least it is not raining, so let's take a stroll along the way. Walk along the Detroit Riverwalk, across the river is Canada. There are basically no people on the streets in the city center, and it is quite desolate and deserted, but there are many interesting graffiti murals.

I still pass by here on Saturday, because the largest local market, the Eastern Market, is only available on Saturdays. This can be regarded as the highlight of Detroit. Compared with the desolate downtown and many dilapidated buildings and factories, this market is particularly lively. It occupies a very large area. I walked here for an hour or two, selling flowers and plants, souvenirs, local specialties, etc. There are also many small stalls selling street food on the street outside. There are also restaurants and bars with live bands and a great atmosphere.

Afterwards, we drove to the Indian Village area, which felt like another city. The houses in this residential area were all luxury houses, and the environment was excellent, which was very different from many other areas. Before leaving, I went to visit the Fisher Building. It was very beautiful, just in time for a pair of newlyweds from Bangladesh taking their wedding photos, and there were many bridesmaids and best men taking pictures together.

It took a total of 14 hours to reach Chicago safely on Saturday, 1 hour shopping at T&T Supermarket in Waterloo, and 4 hours in Detroit. This trip to Canada drove about 2,400 miles round-trip, which is more than moving to Chicago from the Bay Area of California.
