Ronda

The second time I used the ride-hailing software to travel from Granada to Ronda. Besides the car owner, there was another passenger who carpooled together. The scenery along the way is beautiful. The owner of the car is from Madrid, but he is doing a PhD in marine history at a university in the south and teaching assistants in history classes. He did his undergraduate studies in Madrid, his postgraduate studies in Barcelona, and the first year of his PhD in Norway. Most of his family is in Ronda, so he drove to see family and friends this weekend. He has been using this ride-hailing software as a car owner for ten years, and has carried many people from his own country, as well as travelers from all over the world. He is also a long-time user of Couchsurfer software, and he said that he has used these two software to help him improve his English very quickly. Another passenger is a young girl who just graduated from university and majored in tourism in a small town near Granada. Now she is learning French by herself and looking for a job. This time, she went to Ronda to find her boyfriend, and it was also the first time she went there. . She got out of the car a little earlier than me, and I sat in the co-pilot seat.

In Spain, even sitting in the back seat is required to wear a seat belt, otherwise the alarm will always be prompted. Most cars are manual transmission. The owner of the car would speak Spanish naturally when chatting with the girl, and asked me if his Spanish accent in Madrid was easier to understand than the southern accent? Speaking so fast, like a machine gun, I can't understand the accent no matter what! Later, when they talked about the food in Spain and the differences in culture, language and food between the north and the south, the two of them unanimously complained about the various rice dishes in Valencia. It feels like every country has obvious differences between the north and the south, and they all complain about each other. Ha ha.

The cliff town of Ronda was born in the era of the Roman Empire, and the old city stands on the cliffs. It was Matador, Bandit and Carmen that made it famous. When I was walking in this white town on the edge of the cliff, it was just in time for the sunset. It was so magnificent that it was suffocating. Hemingway called it the most suitable place in the world to elope, and there was a romantic atmosphere everywhere.

Wandering in the area where the local residents live, the beauty is different.

The food gets better and cheaper the further south you go. At night in a new city, I went to the tapa bar recommended by the owner of the ride. Drinks are cheap, and tapa is even cheaper. A tapa is only 90 cents, and it is authentic. I really don't know how they make money. I especially admire the super memory of the waiters and bartenders. They are so busy that they still remember what everyone ordered and what dishes they added. The store was full within five minutes of opening at 8:30, except for me, who seemed to be locals. The old couple and their daughter sitting next to me didn't speak English at all, but they still chatted with me enthusiastically. They also love to travel. They visited Beijing and Xi'an in 2013, and they have a particularly good impression of China. After they left, they added a wave of young people in their early twenties, who were also super enthusiastic. I just casually asked what one of the side dishes they ordered was, and they all just pushed that side dish to me for me to try. I said no, I'll order my own, and they stopped me to try what they ordered. I couldn't taste one, and they kindly asked me to eat the second one too. . . What a passion.
