Phuket Town, Krabi

Except for Bangkok, everyone seems to have been to Phuket before coming to Thailand: beaches, ladyboy shows, bars, etc. I feel that I have no interest in these, so I decided to fly from Bangkok to Phuket, and then take a bus from Phuket Town to Krabi. When I arrived in Phuket Town, I went to the long-distance station to buy a ticket to Krabi at noon. There is not even a luggage storage place here. At noon, I could only walk around the town for an hour with a big bag on my back. The early immigrants here in the 18th century were tin miners from Fujian. In the 20th century, European Portuguese mining companies entered, and the architectural style was influenced by it. I heard that more than half of the people in the town are descendants of Fujianese. There are many galleries, bars, cafes, etc. on the street, which is quite atmospheric and sentimental. It took three hours by car from Phuket Town to Krabi, and then took a taxi to the youth hostel.

When I first arrived in the Krabi Youth Hostel room, there was a person sleeping on my upper bunk. When I packed up and planned to go out, the upper bunk woke up. The Mexican restaurant next to this youth hostel is really authentic. The proprietress married a Mexican, so they opened this restaurant together. The girl on the upper bunk of the youth hostel is a Filipino-American woman. She used to be a chef and also a cafe manager. She resigned due to too much work pressure. When chatting, she can't leave her girlfriend in three sentences. It's true love after being together for eight years! After eating Mexican food, she took me to the Maharaj night market in Krabi. This is the best night market I have visited since I came to Thailand. I saw a lot of food that I have never seen before, such as zalacca red heart-shaped fruit like lychees and sea grapes sea grapes. It's a pity that I can't eat anything else after dinner. Just to eat again tomorrow night, the Youth Hostel has to stay another night tomorrow!

The next morning, I had breakfast at the Muslim restaurant downstairs in the Youth Hostel, and then joined a group to go on a day trip to Hong Island. This place is simply beautiful! Hong Island is composed of two main islands. When the tide is low, a beach road will be exposed between the two islands to connect the two islands, which is amazing. The water is crystal clear, and small fish can be seen while snorkeling. There are four handsome Korean oppas on this one-day tour boat, all of whom are firefighters, and there are two Singaporeans who can speak English, Chinese and Korean, which really makes me ashamed. The third day in Krabi became the most tiring but most interesting day since I came to Thailand for more than a week. The girl on the upper bunk of the youth hostel recommended me to go to Khao Ngon Nak National Park. But renting a taxi is too expensive for one person, and I can’t find someone to carpool. I even thought about renting a motorcycle and driving there by myself, but after a test ride, I felt that my ability was limited and I didn’t want to take risks, so I gave up. So until midnight last night, I still struggled whether to go this national park. If you don't go to this park, you can only go to the beach. But because I didn't have much interest in the beach, I finally decided to go mountain climbing. When I got up early in the morning, I planned to go to the street to find a taxi to bargain for the price. As a result, there were all kinds of mistakes on the way, and after a long time of effort, I finally negotiated with the motorcycle driver for one-third of the price. I put on my helmet and was ready to leave. I suddenly realized that I didn’t have enough cash in Thai baht. I went to the nearby ATM to get it. I was told that the password was wrong and I couldn’t get it out. I tried two cards and several ATMs didn’t work. I called the bank in the United States. No one goes to work on Thanksgiving. Suddenly remembered that I had some RMB and US dollar cash on me, so I found a currency exchange place and exchanged some Thai baht. What an emergency! The motorcycle drove nearly 40 kilometers to the national park. Before entering, everyone had to sign and leave a phone call to record the time of entering the park. The administrator repeatedly asked about safety issues. My motorcycle driver uncle was going to wait for me at the door for four or five hours before he came out to take me back, but he insisted on taking me to climb the mountain together. It was extremely difficult to communicate in English. He kept saying "danger, danger" and he was worried about me. I was quite touched by the safety, and I thought it would be nice to have a local guide!

Not long after I started climbing, I met a little beauty from Toronto, who was also alone, and climbed the mountain together with my companions. She is a Filipino Canadian from Toronto, majoring in accounting. My motorcycle uncle asked us Are you ok every few minutes. Although I couldn’t stay in Chiang Mai to see the most spectacular sky lanterns, I was fortunate enough to experience their annual traditional festival Loi Krathong in Krabi Town before leaving Thailand, which happened to be on the same day as Thanksgiving. On the day of the Loy Krathong Festival, Thais put handmade water lamps into the river to enshrine their wishes and blessings, and believe that diseases and pain will float away with the water. The local people are very clever. I saw that men, women and children will use banana leaves, banana poles and various small flowers to make water lamps.
