New Zealand - North Island

I flew from the South Island to Auckland to meet up with my friends from Beijing, and finally got a good night's sleep in bed. Go to Mount Eden in the evening to watch the sunset and sunset, the colors are super beautiful. Chinese restaurants are ubiquitous in the city of Auckland, and there are big ups and downs everywhere. Just walk around and practice your legs. Events and posters commemorating the victims of the Christchurch shootings a week ago are common on the streets.

At noon, I rented a small electric scooter Lime in Auckland with a friend and went to pick up the rented small RV. In the evening, I use a flashlight and wear a headlamp to travel the firefly mountain stream at night. I can see the whole picture of fireflies at close range, and I can only feel the magical nature. Wearing a friend's little red cloak, it's almost a big broom to be a witch.

The next day, I drove along the west coast to Cape Reinga Lighthouse in North Point, and parked the RV in an excellent location to watch the sunset over the sea. Opened the trunk freezer and found that the unsealed food had attracted a bunch of ants in the pan, and the heating on the stove directly turned them into "ants on the hot pan". I was ready to eat dinner when I caught up with a car to visit the graves. The uncle who got out of the car rushed over to us angrily, accusing us that we should not cook beside the grave, and we both quickly apologized and said that we would finish eating immediately. Then the clouds dissipated, and in the dark night, I saw the stars and the Milky Way.

On the third day, I went to the beach for sand boarding and rented a sand board. It took twenty to thirty minutes to climb up the slope, and then I could enjoy the thrill of sliding down the slope for a few seconds. During the climb, the little finger of the right foot poked the sand board, and it didn't take long for it to bruise and swell. You can't die before you get out of the apprenticeship, so I limped up and slid a few gentle slopes. He accelerated too fast and couldn't stop. When he was about to reach the end, he separated from the sandboard and rolled down. Fortunately, he was not injured, but his nose, ears, and mouth were all covered with sand. When I was skating on the sand board, my toes were already purple, so I asked Maori if she had a medical kit. Her expression immediately told me, "How could it be? Where can you get hurt from sandboarding?" But she kindly took out a bottle of ice water from the freezer and let me take it and apply it. Then I went back to a seaside park camp and washed all the sand off the cold shower head in the open air, next to the park where there were a lot of Maori families picnicking.

On the fourth day, I went to Bird Island, which is the most touristy place in North Island these days. Thousands of birds perched here and it is truly beautiful. I met a few Beijing and Shanghai senior tour groups, which sounded so cordial.

When I returned to Auckland, I returned the RV. It was the first time I tried the new way of traveling in a RV. I had feelings for the rental car for a few days. I found a Xi'an restaurant in Auckland. It is the most beautiful meal I have eaten since I came to Australia. I haven't eaten spicy food for a long time. After eating a lot, I went to the black sandy beach of Piha Beach, went to the nearby grove to pick up firewood, took a bunch of firewood to the beach, and found a cave that was most suitable for bonfires, but when I went in, I saw that there was a Chinese compatriot in meditation, It's not over in a while, so we changed places. It was raining in the South Island before, and it took a lot of effort to start the fire, but my friend started the fire in an instant. Roasted beef, skewered marshmallows, mixed salad, and drank coconut milk. It is so warm to eat by the fire.

On the sixth day at Waikato Hot Water Beach, we rented a small shovel. We saw a lot of people digging holes in the distance, so we started to look for a piece of land to dig. Due to the uneven heat, it was either very cold or scalding to death. In desperation, a father and son just happened to be leaving, so they gave us the pit. But the pit is too shallow, and we have to keep digging for ourselves. After lying in, the hot water is super comfortable, and I don't want to come out.

The Cathedral Cove cave is really amazing. In order to see the other side of the cave, we hurried to the side of the cave and stepped on the water before the waves came over. It reminded me of Super Mario playing Wii and jumping over the underground adventure. The scene of the fireball coming out. When I came back, the tide was high, and after waiting for a long time, I didn't see the waves getting smaller, so I could only bite the bullet and get wet from the waist down. I have always disgusted and despised all kinds of poses and street photography. In fact, the most fundamental reason is that I know that I am a terrible model. If I realize that there is a shot that deliberately shoots me, I will feel uncomfortable and my smile will stiffen. . But unfortunately, my friend is too good at taking pictures, and I can actually make a blockbuster. I have to remember it!

New Zealand is the last stop I've traveled for nearly a year since I quit my job last year and will be back in the US in a week. After returning, there are still many unknowns, which need to be explored and discovered slowly. I would have panic about the future, but more anticipation. This year of traveling and living alone has brought me enormous spiritual wealth and unmeasurable growth and change. I am not the same person I used to be, and it is not an exaggeration to say that I am "reborn". I would also like to encourage all of my friends to take the time to go on a solo trip, you will not only discover your new selves, but you will discover that the world is actually a lot better than the world you know from TV network news of. I know that not everyone can come and go and travel alone, but there are some things you don't do now, and you won't do them in your life.

Everyone I met during the trip, including the local people who gave me directions with only one relationship, the donkey friends who had a meal or a day trip with my friends, and the hostel and host who only spent a few days together. My couch owner, an old friend from a previous trip who had the chance to reunite, and a friend who traveled with me for a week to get to know each other better. In addition, there are colleagues and friends whom I met during my two months working in Nanjing. No matter how long you have been together, you have influenced me to varying degrees and have become a part of my life. Thank you for being with me through this year.
