Nanning, Beihai

Taking the high-speed rail from Guangzhou to Nanning, this is the third time I have come to Guangxi. I have eaten all three major rice noodles in Guangxi: Guilin rice noodles, Liuzhou snail noodles, and Nanning old friend noodles. It is said that people in Nanning love to eat vermicelli to the extreme. They can eat vermicelli for three meals a day, and there are all kinds of vermicelli. Today, I tasted Tianfuxiang's old friend noodles, freshly squeezed rice noodles, and roll noodles. The following is excerpted from the Internet: "According to statistics, if calculated on the basis of 3 taels per bowl of rice noodles, Nanning sells more than 600 million bowls of rice noodles every year; calculated on the basis of a diameter of 20 cm per bowl of rice noodles, the annual consumption of more than 600 million bowls of rice noodles in Nanning is lined up , can go around the earth more than three times.”

After eating old friend fans, I went to Qingxiu Mountain Scenic Area. The vegetation here is really beautiful, like being in a tropical rainforest. It has been raining in Nanning for half a month. It is cold and humid. I feel that the sheets, quilts and pillows are all damp. I asked for the electric heater to turn on, but I still miss the heating in the north.

Afterwards, I went to Water Street, where I ate Tiantian Squeezed Rice Noodles, Mugwort Ciba, Lunjiao Cake, and Mung Bean Seaweed Soup. Before, I only knew about donkey rolling in Beijing, so I was curious to try horse rolling in Nanning. In fact, it is glutinous rice cake wrapped in soybean flour, and any animal can roll. In the evening, I went to the Zhongshan Road Night Market and ate Liang Kee Roll Noodles and Taro Sago Dew. The next day, I ate dry-pressed rice noodles and refueling sticks at the train station for lunch.

If it weren't for the fact that Beihai's friends happened to be in China, I guess I wouldn't come here. Before I met her three years ago, I only knew about Beihai Park, but never heard of the city of Beihai. Because the climate is so comfortable, many northerners will come here to spend the winter. It is said that there are basically foreigners here. Meet up with friends on the high-speed rail halfway, and then go to Beihai together. After getting off the train, I felt so warm, and it was back to more than 20 degrees.

In 2009, Beihai topped the list of fastest growing cities in the world. I heard that the locals sleep until noon every day, collect rent by playing cards, go out for supper in the middle of the night after dinner, it is normal to go to bed at two or three in the morning. Electric cars and cars drive at least twice as fast as other places. My friend took me to the Silver Beach in Beihai, and at night I went to Qiaogang Style Street. There are many Vietnamese overseas Chinese living here, and they sell a lot of seafood and Vietnamese snacks. After going around in a circle, I returned to a place so close to Vietnam, which is only more than 200 kilometers away from Vietnam. We ate Vietnamese roll noodles, fried durian ice, oysters and taro sago, and then went to Lao Cai, ate shrimp cakes and drank cantaloupe juice.

The next morning, I bought breakfast at a street stall and took it with me on the road: hair cakes, roll noodles, radish cakes and big buns. We first took a taxi from Hepu to Xingdao Lake, where the Water Margin was filmed. I ate dinner at a friend's house, and then went out to experience the nightlife of the locals.

The third day was a sunny day. I ate pork knuckle noodles and glutinous rice for breakfast. Then we went to Weizhou Island in the North Sea, the youngest volcanic island in China, which was formed by multiple volcanic eruptions. Any scenery is super beautiful as soon as it is photographed, and the blue water reminds me of Kenting. Fortunately, my friend gave me a five-minute electric car training last night, and I dared not drive it until I went to the island today.

Take the high-speed rail from Beihai back to Nanning, then take the plane back to Beijing, and take the bus to the city at the Capital Airport, but because it was too late, the subway was gone, and I couldn’t get a taxi, so I had to ride Mobike with my big bag on my back go home. Finished my first two-month solo backpacking trip.
